The Phillie Phanatic welcomed long-time Phillies staffer Dewitt Hobbs to his new home, Spring Hills Cherry Hill Assisted Living on May 8, 2017. When Hobbs and his new friends were not playing with the Phanatic, they practiced their pitching and enjoyed some hot dogs, popcorn and peanuts. Everyone had the chance to win red necklaces when they answered some Phillies trivia.
Mr. Hobbs began working for the Philadelphia Phillies back when it was Connie Mac Stadium. As the stadium changed names, he became a Security Guard for the visiting team. His niece is HGTV design star Cathy Hobbs who designed his room before he moved in. Hobbs is moving in with his daughter, Geraldine Hobbs, who was a teacher at Camden High School for 40 years and then volunteered there until she moved away just three years ago.
