The COVID-19 pandemic has caused senior living locations to redefine certain methods of how we are able to do that, but our motto still remains the cornerstone of our approach. Making the Transition to Virtual Programming
One of the most consistently true things when it comes to assisted living and memory care is that the programs are a huge consideration when making a decision. WebMD discusses why activities are so important to consider when choosing a place for your loved one by saying, “Your loved one will have more chances for physical and mental stimulation.” With that in mind, our company acted decisively to ensure that programs can still continue but in a safe way. We have offered a variety of virtual programs for your loved one to remain engaged, inspired, and intrigued during the quarantine.
Keeping Communication Strong via Video and Phone Calls
Social isolation is one of the top five risk factors of older adult decline. Naturally, during a time of social distancing, that is a huge concern for us to make accommodations wherever possible. In fact, our Director of Operations, Nick Banar, discussed the importance of keeping socially connected in your golden years by saying, “All of these things are going to help their brain actively engage in what they’re doing on a day-to-day basis and it’s going to set them up to have more longevity when it comes to their cognitive functioning.” That is why we are proud to continue to offer activities and programs on a one-on-one basis in our assisted living, memory care and post-acute care communities to keep the individuals in our care engaged and prevent that potential decline as well as offering daily phone and video calls with family members to keep them connected.
Ensuring All Essential Needs are Still Being Met Daily
In senior living, there are multiple clinical needs that must be met every single day. For young and healthy individuals who are capable of doing all activities of daily living independently, they can simply isolate and maintain themselves during the COVID-19 pandemic. For seniors with health conditions or multiple comorbidities, it is not the same circumstances. It is important that we ensure our communities are appropriately positioned to continue to care for all of our seniors and meet their essential needs on a daily basis. That is why we have placed all recruitment and associate appreciation initiatives so high on our priority list for our COVID-19 response to keep our staff happy and, thereby, keep our seniors healthy. Rolling Out Our Spring Hills Cares Program
At our company, we don’t just care about your loved ones. We care about you. That is why we have rolled out our Spring Hills Cares Program which offers virtual webinars focusing on building a connection with the families of our residents by inviting them to join our communities for a variety of the virtual activities we are offering. Our family members are part of our Spring Hills family and we are proud to continue to offer new and innovative programs to ensure that they are taken care of just as much as the seniors in our care.
