Our History

The Spring Hills family has been caring and serving seniors as well as, other individuals in need of quality healthcare since 1999. At first, we provided one Assisted Living Community in Morristown, NJ, and we have grown to seven gracious Assisted Living Communities in four states.

All of the developments were the result of one man's dream. In 1999, Alexander Markowits had a vision of changing a Skilled Nursing facility in Morristown into an Assisted Living Community to meet the demands of today's society. As a licensed Nursing Home Administrator, Alex began to transform the structure into a luxurious setting for those people in need of a safe environment that allows individuals to continue an independent lifestyle.

Today, Spring Hills Morristown is a fabulous Assisted Living Community offering spacious, tasteful accommodations at a reasonable cost. Additionally, Spring Hills Morristown goes a step further and participates in the Enhanced Community Options Program (Assisted Living waiver), a Medicaid program to further meet the needs of the local public.

The vision also included the desire to expand the Spring Hills family and acquire new Assisted Living Communities where he could provide the warm touch offered at the flagship community located in New Jersey. The visualization became a reality when Spring Hills purchased the following four communities in 2002: Spring Hills Singing Woods in Dayton, Ohio, Spring Hills Mt. Vernon in Alexandria, Virginia, Spring Hills Lake Mary in Lake Mary, Florida, and Spring Hills Hunter's Creek in Orlando, Florida. In 2004, Spring Hills Middletown, Ohio and Spring Hills Somerset, New Jersey were added to our family of communities.

Spring Hills Assisted Living has created a special format that extends a secure atmosphere for those individuals experiencing memory loss. Our unique Memory Care division, known as the Spring Cottage at our buildings in New Jersey, Florida, Virginia, and Ohio, extend the ultimate services and safety while dedicated to the physical, social, and emotional wellbeing of our residents.

Determined to lead the way in the Assisted Living and Memory Care arena, Spring Hills Assisted Living employs only top professionals of each respective field that are dedicated to "Caring with a Commitment to Quality".
