Youth volunteers from St. Matthias Church in Somerset, Franklin Township, played Wii games with residents at Spring Hills Somerset Assisted Living on Sept. 12 as part of activities celebrating the start of National Assisted Living Week.
The students showed the residents how to play a variety of electronic games; the participants then had a tournament.
Prior to the Wii games, Franklin Twp. Deputy Mayor Phil Kramer officially began the celebration in an opening ceremony with Spring Hills Somerset resident council president John Boucher, local minister Gwen Livingston, the Spring Hills Somerset Bell Choir and the Ding Dongs Bell Choir.
National Assisted Living Week emphasizes the importance of supporting those in assisted living as well as their family members. Those working and volunteering at assisted living facilities are also celebrated.
